The bass note and the chord voicing for every step are resolved from that bar's chord before playback starts, so the low end and the harmony can never disagree about the key. The melody uses a pentatonic scale chosen to sit inside the same key, which is why nothing ever clashes.
What makes it sound lo-fi
Four things, layered: a low-pass filter that rolls the high frequencies off at −24 dB per octave, a 0.55 Hz tape-style pitch wobble, a filtered vinyl-crackle bed, and micro-timing offsets that push the snare 14 ms and the chords 22 ms behind the grid the way a human player would. Those offsets are fixed in milliseconds rather than note fractions, which is how the drag stays audible at every tempo.
Why the export matches the preview
Nothing is random. There is no Math.random() anywhere in the pattern data, so a given set of settings always produces exactly the same notes. The export re-renders those notes offline — faster than real time — instead of recording the preview, so a 2-minute file is ready in seconds and is what you actually heard.
